Daniel Mahlman
A feeling of looseness and playfulness pervades my work.
I am a self-taught artist, and my independent development has instilled in me a freedom that has allowed me to artistically explore without extensive deliberation.

My work inhabits a range of styles, much of it informed by a graphically oriented core. I am continually interested in the elegant simplicity of drawing. Drawing is a naked medium, with all of its elements easily understood. But its transcendence of the deceivingly simple linear base, is something that I continue to explore.

Continued art exploration through meditation would be the description my studio practice. A clear mind to accept what may come has shaped the varying types of work that I produce. It has also led to a unique series of work I call “scribble drawings,” a style of pen and ink work incorporating elements of pointillism and expressionism.
